Land of Embers: The Executed Follower’s Return

He was executed for proving that the limit doesn’t exist. Now he writes the laws.

Lu Yan was never a genius. He was a loyal follower who served his sect with cheap elixirs and worn-out techniques, and through sheer devotion reached the eighth level, a height no prodigy had ever touched. It was his undoing. His very existence proved that the “official limit” at level six was a lie, so every great sect voted unanimously to put him to death on false charges.

Then came one hundred and twenty years of torment in the dark. By the end, nothing was left in him but cold arithmetic: mercy is a debt paid with your own life.

Now he opens his eyes in the body of a twelve-year-old farm boy, with every memory intact. He knows the sects are one team pretending to be rivals. He knows the monsters they hunt as “honorable prey” are the only living proof of the road beyond level six. And he knows exactly who will betray him, and when.

This time he won’t serve. He will hide his intentions, turn the sects against each other, ally with the monsters they slaughter, and climb to the very top.

Let the world call him a devil. He’s the one writing the laws now.
